The skincare must-haves

During the day, the skin protects the internal organs - this is where the protective function is important! The skin can and should recover and regenerate at night.

We can support these basic and very different functions of the skin with the right care (or - in the worst case scenario - really mess them up).

Your skin does the hardest work during the day. Today more than ever – environmental toxins, computer radiation, urban dirt, UV radiation, temperature compensation, etc.

At night the skin is in repair mode - regeneration at the cellular level - cell division, wound healing, recovery. The skin is also more permeable at night. This means that moisture evaporates faster than during the day. It sounds negative at first, but it also means - conversely - that the applied care can be absorbed better.

These two fundamentally different rhythms of the skin must now be taken into account in daily care. And anyone who does this will see an improvement very quickly - regardless of skin type.

A very important point, for example, would be thorough cleaning in the evening. Although the skin switches to nightly repair mode when it is resting, if dirt residue (make-up, dust, environmental toxins) “occupies” the skin, it will remain in the protective mechanism. Because protection has priority, as it is vital (for the internal organs to be protected), so to speak.

Perfect, thorough but gentle cleaning is achieved with Double Cleansing. This is really very easy and takes about 15 seconds longer than regular makeup removal. Apply a cleansing oil to dry, dirty skin and massage it into the skin. Do not wash. The oil collects the day's dirt, absorbs it like a sponge, and now follows the classic cleaning with milk or gel (this involves briefly emulsifying the product in your hand, applying it, massaging it in) AND THEN everything - oil and cleaning product - with lots of warm water Rinse with water. The skin is better after two to three weeks. Promised.

At night, all of these ingredients only work when the skin is in repair mode, which brings us back to thorough cleansing. Because imagine if the skin had only been wiped with a cleansing cloth (i.e. it logically cannot switch to repair mode and remains in protection mode and you then come with active ingredients - every night - and the skin has even more to combat She has to protect herself. We can then all imagine the reaction of the skin (and the appearance) – sensitive, red, blotchy and irritated skin.

In this respect, when it comes to daily care, it is not only important that the products match the skin type, but above all that care is in harmony with the natural processes and skin functions and that beauty products are selected accordingly.

The morning routine begins with a gentle cleansing, such as the holistic/berlin cleansing foam , followed by a facial toner. Especially if you live in cities with very hard water (like in Berlin, for example), it is important to cleanse with facial toner, because the finest lime deposits cause dry and irritated skin. If you have very dry skin and don't need water on your face to wake up in the morning, you can skip this step. Or you can use a nice plant hydrosol and mist your face with it: lavender (sensitive skin), rose water (normal skin), orange blossom (tired skin).

Your morning care routine should help the skin protect itself from all stress factors, for example to avoid damage caused by free radicals. When we think of protection, we always think of SPF, but more importantly, antioxidant-rich products that help the skin protect against oxidative stress are just as important. A serum for the right skin type (particularly impure or sensitive skin needs different serums than normal to dry skin types) is the first product in the care sequence! This is followed by light care or a facial oil. For example, with the balancing serum for normal skin or the moisturizing serum for dry skin - both from holistic/berlin

Care with a facial oil works for me preferably. If you're now cringing internally (yikes, greasy, an oil), please think about the composition of a cream. Oil is an integral part of EVERY cream. You cannot make cream without oil. But the oil is actually the really GOOD thing in the cream. In addition, there are (usually) a lot of unnecessary substances to make a cream from oil and water. What I want to say is: In the kitchen we use cold-pressed olive oil and in the bathroom we have margerine. Oil is not greasy, does not make the skin shine and with a moist component (serum) underneath it provides THE perfect care without unnecessary fuss. There is the perfect oil for all skin types. Two very popular oils are the Voyanics Rosehip+Frankincense facial oil and the Voyanics Plum face oil.

My evening routine begins with a double cleansing ritual. To do this, apply the Voyanics Chia Seed Pre Cleanse Oil (ideal for all skin types) or the holisticberlin Pre Cleanse Oil mild (for very sensitive skin types) or the holisticberlin Pre Cleanse Oil intensive (for more impure skin) to dry and dirty skin in the evening. Massage in and DO NOT remove. Then massage in cleansing gel or cleansing milk or cleansing foam (really works with any product) and then wash EVERYTHING TOGETHER with plenty of water. After just two weeks you will notice an improvement in the skin, as we proactively support the skin's natural repair function.

Skin permeability is higher in the evening than during the day, meaning it is more receptive to active treatment products at night. These could be ingredients that accelerate cell renewal (vitamins, lactic acids) to gently stimulate cell renewal. Once or twice a week I use the holisticberlin overnight mask or the Voyanics Shea + Lavender Balm instead of the usual care products. This wonderfully intensive but light cream mask regenerates the skin overnight. The mild lactic acid gently removes dead and dry skin cells and ensures super radiant and buttery-soft skin the next morning.

The evening is also the perfect time to intensively pamper your skin with a few extras. Masks and peelings can work best now. But, less is more here and so are these products should be full of good ingredients and very gentle. Personally, I think it's wrong to skimp on a good peeling or mask, because even if the product only works for a relatively short time, ingredients that are too aggressive can really unbalance the skin.

My favorites are the Voyanics Rose + Neroli mask , the Voyanics Hyaluron + Botanicals mask , the holistis/berlin cleansing mask and the holisticberlin anti-aging mask . You can see and feel the result immediately!
